;; appearance
general;; Angelique is a petite girl barely reaching five feet and three inches with a slender build that allows her more freedom of movement in her dancing. She has dark hair that falls in loose waves past her shoulders and pale blue eyes that are large and curious. Her complexion is ivory pale--as is considered lovely--but she also has a very generous sprinkling of freckles.
Angelique's one vanity is her very generous amount of luscious dark hair which she cares for almost religiously. She keeps it perfectly trimmed at a length that allows it to be worked into many of the elaborate hair styles that chorus girls are required to wear during the operas. Her hair is naturally wavy, so Angelique does not bother with doing much in the way of curling her hair.

hate;; Her very generous sprinkling of freckles. Freckles are not fashionable, after all.

;; personality
general;; Naturally a shy person, Angelique takes a long time to become close with a person. Some would take her quiet and shy nature as snobbishness, but Angelique is far from a snob. She is a kind-hearted girl who would willingly die for those she cares for and does her best to help those in less fortunate circumstances than herself. This charitable nature comes from her very religious upbringing and her piety.
Slow to anger and quick to forgive, Angelique is not someone that holds a grudge or explodes in a rage when someone has irritated her. Patient to a very amazing degree, Angelique prefers to use words rather than blows to solve a problem. However, she has many odd quirks. She tends to stare at people when she first meets them, as though doing so will give her some insight into their soul. She also startles easily and is even quicker to blush.

;; origins
general;; Born to a poor shopkeeper named François Dupont and his wife Marie, Angelique is the last of two children. She was born three years after her elder brother, Jean Paul Dupont. From an early age, Angelique was exposed to music and the arts. Her mother loved to sing hymns to her children while she worked, and their father was talented at charcoal sketches. His artwork was the only decoration that their humble home over their father's shop could boast. When Angelique was only two years old, her father died in a carriage accident, leaving a sick widow and two small children.
Not long after the death of her first husband, Marie fell in love with her bachelor brother-in-law, Pierre Dupont. The two were married mere weeks before Angelique's fourth birthday. While he was not their true father, Pierre loved his adopted children as though they were his own, and not out of a sense of duty to his dead brother. Pierre was always a good father to Angelique and Jean Paul, teaching them what he knew and doing what he could to keep the family well-fed and clothed.
Sadly, the family fell on hard times when Angelique was twelve. The store failed and Pierre was forced to find other means of employ. Though he was not as talented of an artist as his brother had been, Pierre did manage to sell a few drawings while also bringing in money by doing odd jobs in their neighborhood. At this time, fourteen-year-old Jean Paul began to find work as well.
This was when the family discovered that Marie was ill with consumption. Unfortunately, they're sad financial state did not allow them to have a Doctor come and visit the sick woman. Instead, Marie was forced to resign herself to a slow death. When she could, Angelique tended to her mother or did seamstress work at home. Then, when she was sixteen, she began searching for work within the artistic community. She sold what sketches she could and acted as a model to artists when she had the time. Now she has come to work as a chorus girl in the Opera.

Angelique Dupont's back was aching. Her arms were screaming to be moved from the cramped position that they had been in for the past two hours, and her eyes watered from remaining open for prolonged periods of time. But this was the sacrifice that one had to make for the sake of art. Not far in front of the posing girl, a young painter who was a friend of her family was doing his best to capture Angelique in the costume of the Greek goddess Athena.
"Armand, how much longer?" Angelique complained as sweetly as she could. "I promised mama that I would be home in time to help with supper."
"Don't worry, little Angel," the young painter laughed. "I am almost done with your face. Once I am, you may toddle home to your maman."
"Merci, Armand," Angelique said sincerely. "I will tell her how generous you were to release me from your artistic torture so soon."
"Ah! No more talking, petite amie," the artist scolded. "Now just remain still a little longer…"
With a sigh of martyrdom, Angelique quietly allowed herself to face her torture for just a little longer. Armand looked up at her and chuckled to himself before he frowned and eyed her appearance again. Her hand holding the spear was getting slack, allowing the spear to tilt too far to the side.
"Petite ange," the artist said with a look of mock scolding. "Mind your spear, mon cherie."
Starting out of a daydream, Angelique did so and straightened her back--with much protesting from the muscles--fixing her eyes on a point in the distance. She would endure this if it killed her, which it likely would.
