Okay I expect most of you have heard about ALW making the sequel based on Frederick Forsyth's novel. For those of you who dont heres a link to an article about it: Clicky
Ive read the novel its based on, it thought it was okay but i really dont like the way it ends etc athough it is rather ironic...in a way...i guess.
I dont want to say too much about it because I dont want to spoil it for you guys who havent read it. But all im going to say in ALW has alot of work to do to make it as amazing as the first one!

I really don't wan ALW to continue on. I mean it was fine the way it ended. Leaving it mysterious on where he went to. But still I think its kind of odd that he's even doing it. I don't think its gonna last long.

You know, I had forgotten all about this. I'll have to acquire the novel and see what I think..

If you haven't already, don't waste any money on it, Fantome. It's not worth it. I would recommend is lending it from the library.
The only thing I can say that is really positive about the book is that all the covers I've seen have been pretty. I especially like the one that has a black/white picture of the skyscrapers with the shadow of the Phantom looming over them. It really goes well with the concept of a mysterious person living in Manhatten, and if I didn't know any better I would by looking at it really be interested in reading the book.
As for the story itself... Well, there's Bad, Less Bad, Really Bad and Awfully Bad. I don't feel like pointing it all out right, but rest assured, it'll come.
I can't stand the plot they're planning for the musical and I just hope they're not going in that direction with it.

I agree I was very disappointed with the book and am surprised ALW thinks so highly of it!
The one good thing about it is if the sequel does well there might be some new phantom songs and movies etc to look forward to. I’m hoping he doesn’t follow the main plot too much of the book and adapts it.
I wish they would do a movie based on Susan Kays novel! That would be AMAZING!

Thing is ALW can make it much better than the plot. Look what he did with EVITA and Cats, which from the sounds of it might be not good, but its the MUSIC that makes them so beautiful. As long as ALW can weave his usual magic he can improve it a hundred fold. My mind is all messed up atm so i am having trouble getting my point across
