A Large room filled with portraits of the most successful performers at the opera house, towards the back of the entrance hall is a large marble staircase that leads to the second floor in which the upper class gather before a performance. Masquerade balls are still held in the entrance hall which the lower class usually gather in when waiting for a performance to start.

The Dormitories are very simple and consist of one bed and wooden desk per ballet rat or stagehand. When you arrive you will be placed into a dormitory, each dormitory is named after a famous benefactor or performer of the Opera House.

What the public don’t see are the large rooms behind the stage in which the sets, Props, costumes etc are made. There are also many rehearsal rooms for the performers as well as changing rooms and of course the small church room in which the workers of the Opera House can go and pray.

This is the large room in which the performances take place. Its decorated in red and gold and theres a large crystal chandelier hanging below Marc Chagall's brightly coloured ceiling, the Italian-style horseshoe-shaped auditorium seats 1,900.

The vast and richly decorated foyers provide the audience with areas to stroll through during intervals. The vault of the avant foyer is covered with delightful mosaics in sparkling colours on a gold background. There is a splendid view of the Grand Staircase. This is a great place to be if you are courting or want to mix with the best class of people.

No one dares descend into the catacombs, not only do the stories of the opera ghost terrify the workers of the opera house but below the Paris Opera House is a maze of catacombs that you are bound to become lost in. You can access the catacombs through several hidden trap doors or through the large gate close to the Opera House.

The large street that the Paris Opera house is on is filled with large houses and apartments that only the higher class can afford. All the houses are large with well cared for backyards. Each house has white marble steps that lead to a large front door. This is a very popular area in Paris for a home and they are usually in high demand.

A Small café off the main road to the Opera House, it sells beverages and small delights and is a popular place among the ballet rats. Its usually full of people and you will be extremely lucky to find a seat. Business is certainly blooming.

One of the biggest Cathedrals in Paris its close to the river and services are held everyday. Its quite a way from the Opera House so its recommended you get a public carriage or hire a carriage to get there.
